Merits of Romanaagarii and SARAL scripts

Romanaagarii and SARAL scripts have the following merits:

1. Based on one sound and one symbol correspondence principle, Romanaagarii is simple to write and easy to learn. It has limited number of symbols. Only nine lessons are required to learn the Romanaagarii script including the numbers, punctuation marks and symbols commonly used in computers. It can be used to promote literacy among people who can speak but cannot read and write a language.

2. Most scripts have either alphabetic or phonetic weakness. This is because there there are too many exceptions to the rules. In Romanaagarii, rules are systematically applied and followed without exceptions. Romanaagarii meets all the requirements of a scientific scrip suggested by scholars and linguists.

3. Most of the text processing on computers and the Internet is presently done in the Roman script. This is because its typing and printing is easy. Romanaagarii is alphabetic and has all the merits of the Roman script.

4. Romanaagarii is phonetic and is based on one sound one symbol correspondence principle. There are no symbols with more than one sound and no sounds with more than one symbol. The pronunciation of consonants in combination with vowels is clear, exact and uniform. It retains all the phonetic qualities of Devanagari script.

5. Only small Roman characters, as in Romanaagarii, are used for writing Email and website addresses on the Internet. The characters of Romanaagarii are being used presently all over the world. The technique of SARAL Roman can be applied to any script provided it is made phonetic, is alphabetized, is based on phonemes and set in ASCII like SARAL Roman. It can be the basis for developing a common international script.

6. Romanaagarii is computer friendly script. All ASCII based programs can be used in computers to process text in this script. Being truly phonetic, it is more suitable for developing voice recognition and text to speech (TTS) programs. In fact, the Spanish TTS program, with some modifications, is already being used for Romanaagarii.

7. Romanaagarii incorporates the learning of numbers and arithmetic symbols. This will help in learning calculations and doing general counting work which is essential in daily life. It supports the concept of literacy as acquiring the skills of reading, writing and arithmetic (3 Rs). By learning symbols for all common purposes, including for using computers, a person can perform several tasks and be really functionally literate.

8. Indian languages being phoneme based and having similar sounds, Romanaagarii will be suitable for writing all of them. Uniform application of SARAL script for different languages will facilitate learning several languages and reading them in different scripts. Even English can be learnt easily as second language by using the SARAL technique.

9. Romanaagarii is related to Shri Yantra which is a beautiful figure to depict and symbolize many mysteries including the origin of language. It incorporates the code of phonetic alphabet and is the abode of the Supreme Intelligence. Thus, it has spiritual orientation in addition to all other qualities.
